Your Child's Assessment Journey, Step by Step

We’ve made the process as straightforward and stress-free as possible — from your first question to your final report.

Why See an Educational Psychologist?

If you’ve noticed your child struggling at school, avoiding reading, falling behind in maths, or finding it hard to concentrate, you’re not alone — and you’re right to seek answers. An educational psychology assessment gives you a clear, evidence-based picture of how your child thinks and learns.

Early identification makes a real difference. With the right understanding and support in place, children are better equipped to reach their potential — in school and beyond.

Assessment can help identify:

The Assessment Journey

Step 1 — Tell Us Your Concerns

Start by filling out our simple Prebooking Form. Tell us about your child, your concerns, and what you're hoping to understand. There's no obligation, and it takes just a few minutes.

Step 2 — Receive Your Free Assessment Plan

Based on your Prebooking Form, our team will recommend a tailored Assessment Plan and provide a clear, upfront quote. You'll know exactly what's included and what it will cost before you commit to anything.

Step 3 — Book Your Appointment

Once you're happy with your Assessment Plan, Louise, our Practice Manager, will help you find a convenient appointment time at our Pennant Hills clinic.

Step 4 — The Assessment

Your child will come in for their assessment session at our clinic. We work hard to make children feel comfortable and at ease. Sessions are conducted in a friendly, supportive environment by our experienced psychologists. Depending on the assessment recommended, sessions typically take between 90 minutes and 2 hours.

Step 5 — Receive Your Report

Following the assessment, we prepare a comprehensive written report tailored to your child. The report details their cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses, addresses your specific concerns, and provides clear, practical recommendations for school and home.

Step 6 — Moving Forward

With your report in hand, you'll have the clarity and confidence to advocate for your child — whether that means requesting school adjustments, pursuing further support, or simply understanding how your child learns best.

What to Expect on Assessment Day

Arrive at our clinic at 373 Pennant Hills Road, Pennant Hills NSW 2120. Your psychologist will call both you and your child in for a relaxed conversation that includes asking questions about medical background and ensuring that your needs are fully understood — this takes about 20 minutes.

Your child will then work one-on-one with their psychologist in a calm, private room. Assessment activities are presented as tasks and games — and most children find the experience much more relaxed than they expected!

Parents are welcome to wait in the waiting room or return at the end of the session.

To help your child feel their best: make sure they’ve had a good night’s sleep if possible and have eaten breakfast before the session.
